Grooming with Care, Respect, and Expertise
Adorable Pet Grooming was founded on a simple belief: every animal deserves to be treated with patience, kindness, and genuine skill.
We understand that bringing your pet to a groomer can be stressful for both you and your animal. That's why everything we do — from our booking process to the way we handle each dog in the salon — is designed to reduce anxiety and build trust over time.
Our groomers don't just trim coats and clip nails. We pay close attention to each pet's individual temperament, coat condition, and health. If we notice something that warrants veterinary attention, we'll always let you know.
How We Got Here
A decade of growth, learning, and deepening our commitment to pets and their owners
Where It All Began
Sarah Mitchell, a qualified dog groomer with a background in animal care, started Adorable Pet Grooming from a converted shed in her Camira backyard. With just a grooming table, a tub, and a handful of loyal clients, she built a reputation for gentle handling and consistent results.
First Dedicated Salon
Word-of-mouth growth led to the opening of a proper salon space in the Camira area. Sarah hired her first assistant and began offering puppy introduction sessions — a service that quickly became one of the most requested in the calendar.
Expanding the Team
Emma Torres joined the team, bringing expertise in puppy socialisation and animal behaviour. James O'Brien followed shortly after, expanding capacity for larger breeds and double-coated dogs. The salon began offering breed-specific grooming programs.
Adapting Through Challenges
During the COVID-19 period, the team implemented strict hygiene protocols and staggered appointment times. Rather than scaling back, the team used this time to deepen their qualifications and research low-stress grooming methodologies.
Grooming Education Initiative
We launched a series of owner education resources — guides on home brushing, coat care between appointments, and signs of skin issues to look for. Helping owners understand their pet's grooming needs became as important to us as the appointments themselves.
A Decade of Dedication
Ten years on, Adorable Pet Grooming has served thousands of dogs across Camira, Springfield, Redbank Plains, and surrounding communities. We remain a small, intentional team — focused on quality appointments rather than volume.
Our Core Values
Animal Welfare First
No grooming result is worth causing a pet distress. We use low-stress handling techniques, take breaks when needed, and never rush an anxious animal. If an appointment needs to stop, it stops.
Open Communication
We talk with pet owners before and after every appointment. If we notice anything unusual — skin irritation, a lump, ear concerns — we'll raise it clearly without alarm or overstatement.
Continuous Learning
Grooming standards, tools, and best practices evolve. Our team regularly attends workshops, reads industry publications, and seeks feedback to improve the quality of every appointment.
Safety & Hygiene
Every tool is cleaned and sanitised between appointments. Our salon uses pet-safe cleaning products and maintains a clean environment to reduce the risk of cross-contamination between animals.
Respect for Owners
Your preferences matter. We listen carefully to what you're looking for and work within realistic expectations for your pet's coat type and condition. We never apply pressure to upsell services.
Thoughtful Practices
We choose our products carefully — selecting shampoos and conditioners that are appropriate for sensitive skin, avoiding harsh chemicals, and favouring suppliers with transparent ingredient lists.
Our Animal Welfare Philosophy
We treat every dog as an individual with their own history, temperament, and comfort levels. Some animals have had negative experiences with grooming in the past. Others are very young and forming their first impressions. And some are senior dogs with physical limitations that require extra care.
Our approach is grounded in what's sometimes called "fear-free" or low-stress handling — a set of principles that prioritise the animal's emotional state alongside the physical outcome of the groom.
In practice, this means:
- We allow dogs time to settle before beginning
- We use positive reinforcement throughout the appointment where appropriate
- We adjust our pace based on how the animal is responding
- We stop and reassess if a dog shows signs of significant distress
- We discuss any concerns honestly with the pet owner afterward
We believe that a well-handled, calm grooming experience is better for a dog's long-term relationship with grooming than a fast appointment that leaves them frightened.
Qualifications & Ongoing Education
Formal Qualifications
Our lead groomer holds a Certificate III in Dog Grooming, with team members holding formal qualifications in animal studies and grooming. We're committed to working within our areas of competence and referring to veterinary professionals when health issues fall outside our scope.
Continuing Development
The grooming industry continues to evolve — from new tools and techniques to updated understanding of animal behaviour. Our team members regularly attend workshops and training events to keep their skills current and bring new knowledge back to our clients.
Product Selection
We carefully select the shampoos, conditioners, and grooming products we use. Products are chosen for their suitability for sensitive skin, gentle formulations, and transparent ingredient lists. We avoid harsh sulphates and strong fragrances where possible.
Salon Hygiene
All grooming tools — brushes, combs, scissors, clippers — are cleaned and sanitised between each appointment. Our salon environment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, and we use pet-safe disinfectants throughout the space.
